BOTSWANA — Okavango, Chobe, Linyanti
→ One of the finest months of the year: massive wildlife concentrations, low vegetation, perfect water levels. Huge herds of elephants, buffalos, hippos, and active lions, leopards, cheetahs, wild dogs. Outstanding visibility during 4x4, boat and mokoro safaris.
→ Data: 15–35°C; dry; no rain; very low vegetation = exceptional visibility; very few mosquitoes; excellent tracks.
NAMIBIE — Namib, Damaraland, Etosha, Skeleton Coast
→ Crystal-clear skies, strong contrasts, ideal temperatures. At Etosha, incredible densities of elephants, lions, oryx, black rhinos at permanent waterholes. In Damaraland, there are excellent chances of desert elephants.
→ Data: 10–32°C; dry; no mosquitoes; low grasses; perfect visibility; excellent tracks.
ZAMBIA — South Luangwa & Lower Zambezi
→ A spectacular month: completely open bush, huge concentrations of elephants, very active predators, exceptional walking safaris. Lower Zambezi is superb for boat and canoe activities along the river.
→ Data: 15–33°C; dry; fully open vegetation; very few mosquitoes; excellent tracks.
ZIMBABWE — Hwange & Mana Pools
→ Peak season: hundreds of elephants at waterholes, wild dogs and lions extremely active. At Mana Pools, elephants standing on their hind legs — a unique African scene.
→ Data: 14–32°C; dry; very low grasses; excellent visibility; very few mosquitoes; excellent tracks.
TANZANIA NORTH — Serengeti Nord (Migration peak)
→ One of Africa’s ultimate wildlife spectacles: Mara River crossings, huge herds, crocodiles hunting, predators everywhere.
→ Data: 16–26°C; dry; low grasses; excellent visibility; very few mosquitoes; excellent tracks.
KENYA — Masaï Mara, Laikipia, Lewa, Samburu
→ The Mara at its peak: Migration, predators, dramatic scenes. Lewa offers superb black and white rhino sightings; Samburu reveals the northern endemics (Grevy’s zebras, reticulated giraffes, oryx beisa).
→ Data: 14–26°C; dry; short grasses; very good visibility; rare mosquitoes; excellent tracks.
RWANDA — Volcanoes National Park (gorillas)
→ One of the best months: dry weather, firm trails, easy gorilla tracking, beautiful light in bamboo clearings.
→ Data: 12–22°C; almost no rain; very few mosquitoes.
UGANDA — Bwindi, Kibale, Queen Elizabeth
→ Excellent for combining gorillas, chimpanzees, and open savannah safari. Perfect month for the tree-climbing lions of Ishasha.
→ Data: 14–25°C; dry; excellent trails; few mosquitoes.
