SOUTH AFRICA — Cape Town & Winelands + private reserves
→ A beautiful month for combining lifestyle travel, food & wine, hiking and light safari. Cape Town enjoys superb light and mild weather. In private reserves (Sabi Sands, Timbavati…), very good sightings of lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, even though grasses remain relatively high.

ZAMBIA — South Luangwa (early transition)
→ As rains withdraw, the bush begins to open. Excellent sightings of elephants, buffalo, hippos, kudu, and rich birdlife. Lions and leopards are still seen, though sometimes in dense vegetation. A rewarding month for travellers who enjoy the atmosphere of the green season.
→ Data: 20–28°C; decreasing rains; medium grasses; some muddy tracks; mosquitoes present.
ZIMBABWE — Hwange & Mana Pools (pre-season)
→ Still green but with magnificent post-storm light. Hwange offers good sightings of elephants, antelopes, zebras, giraffes, and occasional lions. Mana Pools begins to reopen in some areas, revealing wild dogs, elephants, hippos, and beautiful river scenes.
→ Data: 20–28°C; possible showers; medium grasses; moderate mosquitoes.
MALAWI — Liwonde, Majete + Lake Malawi
→ A soft, tropical month: elephants, hippos, crocodiles, rich birdlife, and serene lakeside villages. Game viewing is moderate due to vegetation, but the overall experience is peaceful and very pleasant. The lake is warm and beautiful.
→ Data: 22–28°C; residual rains; variable tracks; moderate mosquitoes.
RWANDA — Gorillas
→ Humid season but excellent trekking. Gorilla families remain accessible; the dense bamboo forest filters gentle light, and intimate behaviours (playful juveniles, grooming females, silverbacks watching over the group) are common.
→ Data: 12–22°C; frequent rain; slippery trails; moderate mosquitoes.
OUGANDA — Gorillas, chimpanzees, savanna
→ In Bwindi, gorillas move through lush vegetation; in Kibale, chimpanzees are vocal and active; in Queen Elizabeth, elephants, hippos, tree-climbing lions, and abundant birdlife remain visible. A deeply immersive month for forest lovers.
→ Data: 15–24°C; frequent rain; slippery trails; notable mosquitoes.
SÉNÉGAL — Dakar, Sine Saloum, Saint-Louis
→ A lovely month before hotter conditions arrive. Saint-Louis is beautiful in April light; the Sine Saloum is superb for mangrove and island exploration. The Senegal River cruise can be enjoyable when the weather is stable.

SAO TOMÉ-ET-PRÍNCIPE
→ Magnificent primary forests, powerful waterfalls, remote villages. A beautiful month for hiking, endemic birds and tropical landscapes.
