Why I created Héritage Sauvage

For more than forty years, my life has been intimately linked to Africa. I lived there with my family, grew up in the bush, worked in aviation and tourism, guided safaris, shared meaningful moments with local communities, and observed, day after day, the raw strength of this land.

Africa did not only offer me breathtaking landscapes and majestic wildlife. It taught me patience, humility, and the art of truly observing. It shaped me deeply, and it is this emotion that I wish to pass on to those who choose to encounter it.

I created Héritage Sauvage to offer Africa as it is truly lived, a sensitive, sincere and powerful Africa, not the one the travel industry too often turns into a product.

My purpose is not to sell an itinerary, but to guide travellers toward a rare, genuine and deeply emotional experience. Every journey I design is nourished by my life on the continent: my bearings, my encounters, my years in the field, and that intimate understanding one can only acquire by having lived there.

With Héritage Sauvage, I want to offer far more than a journey: a moment of truth, an intense pause, a wild legacy.

Four generations connected to Africa

A family and personal story

1947

The origins

My family settled in Cameroon. As French pioneers, they learned the territories, the dense southern forests and the local communities. From that time on, a deep connection to nature and wildlife was passed down through generations.

1970

N’Gaoundéré, my childhood

My parents settled in northern Cameroon, on the family concession. It is there that I discovered what a true safari means: a behaviour, an ethic, and absolute respect for the land.

1988

Gabon

Posted to Gabon with the French army, I encountered the gorillas of Loango for the first time. A raw, unforgettable and founding emotion.

1991

Namibia

I left to manage a remote farm near Otjiwarongo. I became a safari guide there and learned a different approach to wildlife: more attentive, more precise, more humble.

1995

South Africa

I continued guiding safaris and travellers in a country where modernity and wilderness coexist. My vision of safari refined itself: elegant, never ostentatious, and deeply respectful of the living world.

2004

Back to France

I became Southern Africa Product Manager at Voyageurs du Monde. I designed bespoke journeys and explored East Africa. My expertise became more structured and profound.

2019

A necessary turning point

As Head of Africa for another tour operator, I confronted the limits of the industry. Values began to erode. It became essential to return to the authenticity of the field.

2024-2025

Héritage Sauvage

I chose independence. Héritage Sauvage was born to transmit a sincere vision of travel in Africa, rooted in the truth of places, emotion, knowledge and first-hand field experience.

What I transmit is not a product, but a way of being in Africa.
